Investment in times of crisis? Diamond - certainty for the patient.

Diamonds International Corporation, the number one investment diamond seller in the Middle-European region draws attention to permanent values, to which one can invest with certainty even in times of economic instability. Economic crisis is testing health of economics all around the world. As we witnessed not too long ago in Cyprus, money sewn into pillow can present an advantage to a certain extent. Which investment commodities have stayed in the limelight for centuries despite unfavourable situation of economy?

Diamonds have recorded continuous annual price growth. The only two major fluctuations were recorded during the 1978-1981 world economic recession, and at the turn of 2008/2009, when there was a sharp appreciation of US dollar. Diamond keeps its real value even in times when US dollar significantly appreciates or depreciates.

Diamonds are primarily a long-term investment. Following the last year's stagnation, the second half of 2013 is expected to see a growth of at least 5%. The precursor to the development can be the prices of small diamonds, most of all 0.3 carats, used primarily for jewellery, which are currently recording rapid increase and are enjoying a high demand worldwide. For example, prices of 0.3 ct G/VS1 has grown by 9% since the beginning of 2013, and by 8% in colors further down the alphabet (e.g. M/VS1)

"A mid-term outlook, which takes into account the ever-growing demand for diamonds, is also optimistic. Moreover, small stones are also enjoying interest of customers and even though the recommended amount for entry-level investments is 250,000 CZK (about 10,000 EUR), small-scale investors are placing demands for stones even half the price, around 100,000 CZK (4,000 EUR). The reliability of diamond lies in its ability to keep its value and be a safety for the future," explains MUDr. Luboš Říha, president of DIC holding.

In Czech Republic, the clients are most interested in diamonds worth 300 thousand to 1 million crowns(12 000 - 40 000 EUR). Investment in 1 carat diamonds has appreciated by 18.5% in last 3 years, 25.2% in 5 years and 39.8% in 10 years. Even better long-term growth can be found in diamonds of 5 and more carats, which appreciated by 11.5% on average in the last 3 years, by 19.2% in the last 5 year and by incredible 116.2% in the last 10 years. Stones with highest grades in color and clarity appreciated even more.

Among many investment commodities, diamond is considered the safest one, it brings stable return of investment and in time, its value will further grow, considering the limited mining sites.
